About Us – Who
is behind CCRGonline?
The Colorado Cancer
Resource Guide online is a collaborative effort between The Metro
Denver Oncology Nursing society and the Comprehensive Cancer Prevention
and Control Program with the Colorado Department of Public Health
and Environment.
The Metro Denver
Oncology Society (MDONS) is a local chapter of the national Oncology
Nursing Society, a professional organization of oncology healthcare
providers. The society promotes professional development for their
members and is active in the local community. The CCRG project was
started in 2002. Three members from MDONS were joined by a dedicated
web designer to volunteer their time and talent to collect, compile
and produce this website that gives Coloradans access to cancer resources
nationally and first and fore most in our state.
The Comprehensive
Cancer Prevention and Control Program (CCPC) had embarked on a mission
in 2001 to produce a listing of the Cancer Prevention Programs in
the state. As the state looked to expand their resource guide to
include a website, the two groups, MDONS and CCPC collaborated to
incorporate the two resource guides. The Comprehensive Cancer Prevention
and Control Program (CCPC) is funded through the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) with an overarching goal to reduce cancer
morbidity and mortality and increasing the quality of life of those
affected by cancer in Colorado.
